Your Wedding Countdown Beauty Calendar…

Want to look your very best on your wedding day? Margo Marrone, Co-Founder of The Organic Pharmacy is here to tell you exactly what you need to do — and when you need to do it.

“Whether you're dabbling in the world of beauty as a bride-to-be, or already stick religiously to a skincare regime, you're no doubt looking for ways to look extra-special on your wedding day. There are lots of factors that can contribute to our appearance and, as much as we'd like them to, clear skin and a healthy glow don't just happen overnight. Skincare can take a long time to perfect, so if you're planning a wedding, you'll need to think about which products to use and when sooner than you might think.

Below, I've put together a rough guide to wedding beauty planning to get you started.

Plan ahead

Achieving the best beauty results takes patience. Everyone's skin is different, and it needs time to adjust to new products, so you should start planning your skincare weeks or even months in advance of your wedding to allow yourself enough time to find the right products for you. Then, once you have identified the best skincare products, they'll take a while to work and give you the results you're looking for.

I would recommend detoxing to give your skin a fresh start before you develop your bridal beauty regime. Detox plans cleanse the body of toxins and other build-ups, usually over the course of around 10 days, to rejuvenate and revitalise your skin. Then, allow yourself at least six weeks to try out your new beauty regime so you can make any necessary adjustments.

Visit a spa

Not only is a spa day the perfect way to feel relaxed and pampered in the run up to your big day, but they provide the opportunity to get expert advice and tips for looking and feeling your best. Booking a consultation will get you a personalised beauty plan developed and implemented by a professional, so you know that you'll get the best results for you and your individual skincare needs.

If you can't make it to a spa, look for professional spa facial kits that you can use at home. These usually include all the products you need as well as various tools and detailed techniques to recreate the spa experience yourself.

Take care of yourself

Even the best beauty products can only do so much. To look your best, you'll also have to take care of the rest of your body and make more positive lifestyle decisions. Fitness, diet, and even your sleep pattern can all affect your appearance as well as your mental attitude, so consider reviewing your exercise routine and any meal plans you might be following to see if they can be improved.

Keeping a sleep diary can be a great way to troubleshoot any issues that may be preventing you from looking and feeling well-rested. Planning a wedding on top of your day-to-day responsibilities can be very stressful, but by tracking your sleep you can make sure you're getting the rest your body needs to cope with it.

Trial your makeup

While this may seem obvious, many brides-to-be simply forget to trial their wedding makeup before the big day. Trying out your look in advance reduces the risk of an allergic reaction impacting your wedding day or honeymoon, or it can just help you identify any products that might not work for you the way you'd like.

Trialing your makeup in advance also gives you an insight into what it will be like to work with your chosen makeup artist on your big day, giving you time to look elsewhere if you need to. Your makeup artist should be able to work with you to help you achieve your vision, so if you don't feel a connection, it's best to thank them for their time, pay them what you owe, and keep looking.

Make a habit of it

In the run up to your wedding, you'll no doubt pick up some new tips, tricks, and habits that you can continue to use and develop to improve your overall skin health. So, after taking all this time and effort to look your best on your big day, why stop there? Looking after your skin can not only help you look lovely, but you'll feel good too.

Your skin changes as you age, so it's important to regularly review your regime and update it to reflect what your skin needs. In particular, look out for dryness or an increase in oiliness which can be good indicators that you need to look for new products. Make sure you cleanse, tone, and moisturise at least once a day and, to provide the best base for your skin care, treat yourself to a full detox or facial every few months or so.

The tips in this guide can help you plan your skincare and beauty routine ahead of your wedding. If you want to look your best on your big day, bear them in mind and you're sure to see results on your big day and beyond.”
