ADVICE TIME: Pets at the do

As a race we are ga-ga over our pet buddies, right?

I have had many clients who wish to involve their pets in the big day. Mainly dogs so that is my focus for this Advice Time sesh. BUT if you fancy bringing your cat, horse or hamster... do let me know! I'd love to hear your plans!

For the woofing friends, here are some thing to think about:

- Accommodation - Have you checked its ok with the hotel / cottage / etc where you will be?

- Your Venue - Are they happy about this? Are their restrictions to where they can go or do they have free roam? Dog bowl handy?

- Help - Have you got someone who will watch / walk / pick up after the doggo while you're busy hosting? Got some treats / poo bags / etc to hand for them?

There are a few things I have seen go a bit wrong which could be avoidable too...

Poop - Keen eyes on as you don't want a trod in, spreading incident!

Down the Aisle - Pick someone to bring the dog who is stronger than said dog!

Boredom - When the dog is bored of the event or even overwhelmed / too excited, have an exit route ready. This could be kennels, dog sitter etc.

Photos - Time these for when the dog has got over the initial attention excitement.

Pets are unpredictable in such an intense environment. I wouldn't presume any behaviour unless they have been around your scale event before. They will get lots of strokes, guests calling to them and even treats!

Just make sure they are going to enjoy it all

If you have doubts, weigh up the effort to reward. If its better, bring them on a mini-moon or do a pre-wedding shoot with your photographer with your canine pal?

Happy planning! x
