ADVICE TIME - First Steps
You’ve picked your venue, you know your numbers and budget… now what?!
The options are endless and everyone has an opinion or idea to share. We get it. For some this is unknown territory and daunting. Here is some guidance to help navigate this section of your planning journey…
Define Your Style - The chosen venue will help guide you on this. Chose the tone, colours, feel, whether simple, rustic, or exuberant. This then guides your item list for the decor. Check out our other blog post (here) for more on that!
Pick Big Ticket Items - Anything that needs the most of your budget or that you have set as a priority needs to be booked or reserved ASAP. You’ll be gutted if they are taken on your date, right?! So get it nailed down.
Website Ready - Even if you start with a date and location, this can be an easy win through the process. Read more in our blog but basically, this is a ‘wed-min’ asset you are daft not to have. For instance, every question you get asked in the run up, add to a FAQ page so you don’t need to answer it again!
Reflect - As new ideas come to you, reflect before making a decision. Does this idea / item positively affect the atmosphere, flow of the day, or memories made? Don’t waste time or money on anything that doesnt.
Track - As you tick off elements, make sure your notes are up to date. Budgets should be kept in mind and any concerns / queries rattling around your head shoudl be noted so each email / conversation with any supplier, you have them ready to go through and your headspace day to day is a little clearer.
All of these steps are to make sure that your planning is stress free and the build up to the big celebration is enjoyable. This is a milestone in your life so lets try and make your time around it wonderful!
